BHLM Defends APL Logistics in Employee Discharge Grievance

On May 25, 2010, Arbitrator William Sigler ruled in favor of APL Logistics in the case and dismissed the Union’s grievance in its entirety. Andy Martone successfully defended APL in this case, in which the Union alleged that grievant Richard Scott had been wrongfully discharged. A copy of the decision can be found here.

BHLM wins summary judgment for client in discrimination, retaliation case.

On Friday, May 7, 2010, the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois (Peoria Division) granted Keystone Steel and Wire’s Motion for Summary Judgment in the case of Gray v. Keystone Steel and Wire. Andy Martone and Mindy Mahn successfully defended Keystone against charges of race discrimination, violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act and claims of retaliation, with the Court dismissing all counts of plaintiff’s Complaint and finding that Keystone did not discriminate against the plaintiff on account of his race, violate the ADA or retaliate against the plaintiff.

Sabrina comes to BHLM from Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc., where, as an officer and Vice President, Labor and Benefits Law, she maintained a full-time legal practice, aggressively and successfully representing the international brewer and its entertainment, packaging and agricultural subsidiaries. Her unique and sophisticated labor law experience contributed to her election as a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers in 2006.
